"Having known Jon as an Alderman, MLA, Businessman, BBQ enthusiast and as a valued friend, I have always admired the way he approaches every situation with a rare combination of integrity, perseverance, common sense and a genuine concern for other people – an unfortunately rare combination to find in any politician. Jon actually works with his focus on the needs of those he serves, rather than just on polishing his image. What a Mayor he would make!"
Robert Hayward, Purchasing & Product Research, HOMERUN INT'L INC

Paul Jackson, Calgary Sun
"Lord is unique. No one who knows him will deny that statement. The man has always been known for tossing out brainwaves while others would sit back and toss barbs at them from the peanut gallery. He didn't mind standing as a minority of one. His supporters come from all over the political landscape.Lord is tough to pigeonhole. I know. He was my alderman. When it comes to money, he's conservative. When it comes to people, he's not."
Rick Bell, Calgary Sun
"Simple building code changes would do much to help working poor. Former Alderman Lord, who has advocated reform for years, thinks the key is in the province revising it's fire and building codes to recognize basement suites. He's onto something"
Calgary Herald Editorial, 2003
"Jon rises to the occasion, quietly gets the job done, and is a true champion of the underdog."
Greg Humphries, ( former Chair, Taxi Commission)

"Jon's dedication and passion for his community and city is well documented. He embodies the vibrancy and essence of what it means to be a true Calgarian. Jon is a successful business owner, a champion of the small business community and a voice for those that need to be heard. He has the pulse of what is truly going on at the civic level which gives Jon 'street credentials' that are so vital today in addressing the needs of all Calgarians....

"I have always been impressed with Jon's enthusiasm for helping people and causes and for really making a difference for his constituents at all times. He's thoughtful, courageous, and an entrepreneur – exactly what government needs!"
Bruce Lee, Performance and Productivity Coach
"I had the pleasure of working with Jon on an affordable housing task force. His prior work in the area of secondary suites was instrumental in our group endorsing secondary suites as a major opportunity to provide affordable housing for Calgarians. I found Jon courageous in presenting views that we not always mainstream, but always sensible. When you are in a group there is always a something that everyone is thinking, yet often goes unsaid – then when someone finally says it, everyone thinks, 'I wanted to say that'. Jon would be the person who speaks up and says that. That's a good quality for a leader".
Sano Stante, Pres. Elect, Calgary Real Estate Board
"Jon is a rare breed – common sense and compassion mixed with open mindedness and vision – just what the city of Calgaryneeds in a leader. Akin to Barack OBAMA, Jon is part of a new wave of politician – he lives beyond the partisan divisions that cause so many deadlocks in our society. While other politicians carry an axe to grind, Jon comes with a hammer, ready to build bridges that will bring us all together"
Anthony Burbidge, Singer, songwriter, speaker, author
"Jon is a passionate entrepreneur who understands the power of big ideas, something sorely lacking in Calgary politics."
Jim Letourneau, Founder & Dev. Big Picture Speculator Inc.
"Jon's energy and vision combined with his political and business acumen make him a force to be reckoned with, in the community, the Province and the Nation."
Mike Glennon, President and CEO, Evolve Energy Partners
"I have always been amazed by, and admired Jon's foresight, energy and thoughtfulness in whatever he sets his mind on to do. As a business man, he started Casablanca – Calgary's best video/dvd rental shop, and an Alderman in Calgary, he spearheaded the effort to get the City ISO 14000 certified (which has resulted in some monumental tax and environmental savings) and as a community organizer he recognized the role BRZ could play in helping re-build and maintain strong communities."
Aarn Wennekers, VP Marketing Business Dev', Clean Pix Inc.
TELEWORK TESTIMONIAL / VISION
"I met Jon in the late 1990s when he was a Calgary Alderman. At that time, he was one of the only elected officials in Canada to actively promote telework. This was at a time when few had even heard of it, and those that did were wary of adopting it. Ahead of his time, Jon had the uncommon vision to recognize the important potential of telework as a modern solution to resolve some of Calgary's and Alberta's thorniest problems, for example, in the areas of transportation, the environment, recruitment, retention, employment for the disabled, personal and corporate productivity, etc.
In 1998 for Canadian Telework Day, Jon said 'Telework is a solution which all levels of government as well as the private sector should be exploring". In my view, if a lot more people teleworked like this we could significantly reduce rush hour traffic and save a lot of tax dollars by delaying infrastructure development. Jon's work paved the way for the City of Calgaryto be the first city in Canadato develop a comprehensive telework program for its own employees – one I helped develop. This led to the City actively promoting telework to its business community via the 'Calgary Economic Development Workshift program' www.wolrkshiftcalgary.com . In fact, City Council proclaimed April 19, 2010 as 'Telework week'. I have no doubt that Jon would make a great Mayor."
Bob Fortier, President, InnoVisions Canada, President – Canadian Telework Association
"Throughout Jon's political career, he has consistently demonstrated his ability to be an effective and tireless representative for his constituents. Jon's strategic approach to examining and resolving issues, combined with his previous political experience would make him an extremely capable elected official."
Peter Davis , Chief of Staff to the Solicitor General, Government of Alberta
"I've known Jon for over 10 years as a friend, business associate, organizer and politician, one of the few that I'd vote for. He is honest and fair with strong opinions that he eloquently, yet forcefully, communicates. I highly recommend Jon. He would be a valuable asset as Director of any Board."
Peter Singleton, President, Accountable Communications (Canada) Inc.
"Jon Lord and I met many years ago when he contracted my company to conduct a small research study for Casablanca Video. Since that time, I've seen Jon Lord succeed in many endeavors with heart, intelligence and acumen. Jon Lord is a tireless worker and advocate! Whether, at work or socially, what I like the most about Jon is that he puts people first. I believe that Jon is a man of the people - that's all kinds of people - company presidents, business owners, employees and the unemployed. Our society has made great strides but yet there are still too many people on the fringes suffering due to not having enough training, lack of education, poverty, addictions and mental health problems. The more like Jon Lord in the world, the better the world that each of us lives in."
October 13, 2011 Eileen Ashmore, MBA, CMC President, E.M.ASHMORE & ASSOCIATES INC.

Jon is a very conscientious, thoughtful individual, who has great leadership skills. He is a great communicator, honest and very supportive of his community and all those he does business with. "I have no hesitation in offering a personal recommendation for Jon Lord as a City of Calgary Mayoral Candidate. I have known Jon for many years and have worked with him in my roles as a community association president in Calgary; as a Calgary Stampede volunteer and as MC of the Barbecue on the Bow Festival. During that time Jon has been a successful businessman; an alderman; an MLA and president of the Barbecue on the Bow Festival Society. Jon has always impressed me as being a man of integrity - committed to his community; his city and his province. Here is a short anecdote that says a lot about Jon Lord. One time while Jon was an MLA, our community hosted a provincial leadership forum. Though Jon was not the MLA for our riding, he not only attended the forum but he stuck around after everyone had left to help us put away the chairs. Not even the riding MLA did that! Jon cares about people; doesn't mind getting his hands dirty and he helps take care of the details.
Jim Powers, Sales Representative, J Powers Outdoors
"I support Jon, because, as my Alderman, I experienced his comprehensive view of researching any and all municipal concerns. He listens carefully to his constituent's and follows thru with his advocacy. He thinks with imagination. Jon has set up meetings with Provincial Minister's and was treated as treated as a resourceful respectable advocate for my proposed Concept to Cabinet Minister's. He has the unique ability to synthesize complex subjects and capsulize a salient strategic format for a presentation. Jon would be a good Mayor.
